Specific Job Description

RMSL is a growth company with an outstanding job opportunity for a Chemical Engineer. This position will report to the Research and Development Group Lead. The Chemical Engineer will be responsible for the development of novel energetic systems, energetic material scale-up processes, development of ammunition and armaments, testing and analysis of energetic materials. The Chemical Engineer will work with the group lead to successfully develop, document, and execute complex test plans.

Duties Include

Handle energetic materials, armaments, and weapon systems

Develop novel manufacturing and scale-up processes

Integrate energetic materials in to end articles such as ammunition and munitions.

Ability to handle materials with strict adherence to safety process requirements

Design of experiments and test series that result in safe and efficient collection of data

Design, source selection, installation, maintenance, and operation of specialized instrumentation and testing equipment.

Design of prototype mechanical and electrical hardware

Compliance in restricted information security regulations

Compliance in explosive storage and handling regulations

 

Required Skills

  • Problem solver that can work in a team environment on fast pace projects

  • Chemical Engineering and/or Chemistry background

  • Familiar with general explosive effects and chemistry

  • Hands-on experience with energetic materials

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas

    • Armament and munition development

    • Energetic material synthesis and formulation

    • Laboratory and pilot plant scale-up of energetic materials

  • Proficient in standard laboratory practices

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software packages including MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint

  • Ability to quickly learn new software packages related to instrumentation, test equipment, data analysis, etc.

  • Experience in instrumentation/data collection

  • Must be able to work overtime as required

  • Physical requirements

    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.; must have the ability to see near and far and work with a computer monitor on a daily basis

    • Required to bend, sit, stand and lift to perform job effectively

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field

  • Must be able to pass a CO State Blasters exam

  • Ability and desire to learn new skills related to testing procedures and usage of equipment

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to obtain security clearance

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field

  • Existing CO State Blaster’s Permit

  • Direct experience with robotics, mechatronics, and control systems

  • Rapid prototyping knowledge and experience
